Fela Kuti is popular across the world for his music which he used as a tool to fight corruption in Nigeria and Africa at large, it has been 2 decades and 2 years since his death but he is still celebrated and recognized world wide. The fela concert " FELEBRATION" is held every December in Lagos.
There are so many achievement and facts to talk about Fela Kuti  but we will just keep it to a TEN.
 So this week on Did you know? We give you Top ten facts you didn't know about Fela Kuti..

  1.Fela Kuti was born Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti in Abeokuta Nigeria. He lived from Oct. 15th,1938 to Aug. 2nd 1997.

 2.Fela Kuti believed his English name " Ransome " was a slave name and later in the 60's adopted " Anikulapo " meaning " to have control over death" .

 3.Afrobeat genre is a combination of funk, jazz, salsa, calypso and traditional Nigerian music, it was pioneered and popularized by Fela Kuti .

 4.Fela never ever played his song again once he has recorded it, no matter how much he was offered to perform them live he refused.

 5. In the 1960s Fela fell in love with the growths of Black power in the United States and in 1969 he was introduced to the Black Panthers while on tour in America.

 6.His Mother Fumilayo Ransome Kuti  was an activist during the anti colonial movement and this influenced Fela political activism, and he released an album titled Zombie which lead to soldiers throwing his mother out of the window.

7.Fela Kuti ran for presidency twice under his party MOP (Movement of the People) which he created in 1979, which he lost and later on created his own Republic.

8.Fela Kuti married 27 women at a single ceremony  in 1978, which he would later divorce them all. In the documentary finding Fela he said " traditions expected me to marry 27u women, I wanted it to be meaningful "

9.In 1978 Fela Kuti was briefly recorded in Guinness book of record for the highest number of women married in a single ceremony.

10.On his final burial millions of people marched with Fela's coffin to his house, more than it have  ever been seen in Nigeria.

Every body knows Google, if you don't you can " ask Google " lol...
In our normal day to day life, every single question we couldn't answer we Google it.
From a simple assignment to project to medical question to how to make money, we just Google it, so tell me why can't you get enough education on your field of study when your so called lecturers use this same Google to prepare notes, exams and project for you.

You can testify that most of your lecturers don't even understand what they bring to the class, they just walk in with a sheet of paper they downloaded from Google and start reading to you, without proper explanation.

Google if use properly can make a better software engineer, entrepreneur, mathematician, journalist, manager, marketer, etc than the university you attended especially in this part of the world, damn right I have a degree in computer science  but I don't even know how to do a proper software software, whatever they call it, many people don't end up working in the same field of work as their field of study. Google has a lot of directories that can take you to platform to learn from people who has succeeded in your area of specialization, you can register on this platform filled with both local and international students and still earn a decorated pieces of paper only this time you are more educated and more modern (especially in this country where you lecturers still lecture about obsolete things).

Who doesn't  love YouTube, if you don't its probably because of the rate at which your data will be consumed. YouTube is a great app to learn anything, especially when you need to see a virtual representation of the topic you want to learn. The best app for people who finds reading very difficult and have hard time understanding written information. There is no tutorial that doesn't exist on YouTube, there is a YouTube saying " you will have to live 300 years to watch all the video on YouTube" that is you have to watch these videos 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year till you complete 300 years. Every single search you make can be found on YouTube, you can easily subscribe to a channel, watch and learn the MODERN way things are done. I mean which professional programmer today didn't had to watch a video on YouTube?. You can even learn how to give first aid from YouTube, (don't try this).

Podcast is known to very few people, for those who don't know it is all of your favorite blogs, topic and show wrapped up in a very big hub of recordings that you can browse, listen and download as audio file, they is a saying "if you can Google it, there is probably a topic about it. " From talk shows to your favorite novel are all downloadable from the podcast. Every single topic imaginable can all be found here, it is like a radio only it is free and easy for anybody to own a podcast channel. So for those of you who don't like piling up books or having lots of videos of your favorite topic, you can always have the audio file of it, so you can listen from anyway, anytime.

These apps made all of us a better students, I can defend that anywhere, even professor uses them.

1.  President Muhammad Buhari was born on the 17th of December 1942, he has 10 children.
2. He was involved in the military coup that ousted Gen. Yakubu Gowon in 1975.
3. December 31st, 1983 Gen. Buhari was chosen uniamously to  be the new head of state.
4. During his tenure, he launched the "war against indiscipline" to promote positive values amongst Nigerians.
5. His restrictions on many things got every one fed up that even the Military had to push him out on the 27th of August 1985 led by Gen Ibrahim babangida.
   
6. Muhammad Buhari is an ex convict and had spent over 2 years in Benin prison. This is one crazy fact that is still unknown to many Nigerians.
7. He was once a federal commissioner for petroleum resources and was appointed by one of his today political rivals then Gen. Olusegun obasanjo in 1976.
8. During his Military regime many politicians and business officials were tried and convicted or awaited trial on corruption related charges.

Sani Abacha was a Nigerian Army Officer and he became the Head of State from 1993 till his death in 1998, General Sani Abacha was born in Kano in the year 1943 on the 8th of September. He married his wife Maryam 2 years after Nigeria became a Republic together they had six boys and three girls. He was known for many actions and few words.

Well here are Top Ten interesting facts I bet you never knew about him.

1. General Sani Abacha was the first soldier in the Nigeria Army to attain the rank of a full star general without skipping a single rank.
2. General Sani was a great coup plotter, he was involved in every successful coup carried out in the country, he also participated in the coup that successful removed General Buhari twice.
3. In 1995, General Sani Abacha was named “Thug of the year” by Time Magazine after the execution of Ken Saro Wiwa.
4. In 2004, General Sani became the world most corrupt leader, looting was at its peak.
5. General Sani Abacha was an instrument of peace and democracy in Sierra Leone and Liberia years after civil war.
   
6. As corrupt as he was “tag” , General Sani Abacha increased fuel price only once in all four years plus in power, he went on to setup the Petroleum Special Trust Fund which have performed greatly even till Today.
7. It was under his regime that Nigeria became a Perpetual importer of petroleum products, as all the refineries ran away. Sadly 20 years later we still heavily depends on imported petroleum products.
8. An unforgettable moment during his regime was the importation of foul fuel which had an offensive odour and damage cars.
9. Abacha’s death still remains mystery, the most popular instance was that he was poisoned with an apple by Indian prostitutes flown from Dubai in the presidential villa, but officially he died of heart attack.
10. Decades later millions of dollar looted by General Sani Abacha is still been recovered from all over the world.
