The presidency has accused Traditional rulers and government officials of sabotaging TraderMoni, by collecting bribes from beneficiaries of N10,000 social investment programme.
Speaking on behalf of the presidency at a non government organization conference titled the 13th Anti-corruption Agenda for the 9th National Assembly, which was organised by the Human and Environmental Development Agenda on Thursday August 22nd, the special adviser to the President on SIP, Maryam Uwais said affected States include Osun, Kano, Jigawa, Kastina , Benue and Niger.
Uwais also alleged that effort to prosecute those involved were all in vain.
She said that there are people in the Local Government area and at state level who have been able to exploit the vulnerability of our beneficiaries.
Most of the beneficiaries don't even report because they are thankful for whatever was given to them, believing that those officials can remove their names from the beneficiaries list.
We asked our monitors to investigate and we discovered that it was true we do plan to visit the affected communities and assure them of our protection, we have given all our investigation findings to security agency, if they have been swift or aggressive with their approach is what we can't assure.
The suspected have been invited but I'm yet to see any prosecution, we have do our best
