Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari had in December 2016 signed a deal with the state owned Moroccan firm OCP, to produce 1 million ton of locally manufactured fertilizer annually.
A coalition of labour and trade unions have vowed to disrupt Nigeria's fish and fertilizer trade agreement with Morocco.
On Wednesday, in a press conference the 20 organization strong partnership NMLWS (Nigerian Movement for the Liberation of Western Sahara), had accused Rabat of selling seafood and phosphate from the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic to Nigeria.
Ibrahim Gambari the former foreign affairs minister was chairing the group and he said it would picket companies in Nigeria that process fertilizer from phosphate supplied by Morocco.
The group went on to warn all companies dealing in stolen western Sahara natural resources including their fishes on notice that they cannot continue in such deals.
After we have given notice to the Nigerian companies dealing in such deals, we will picket them across the country and bring them before our courts. This will also include Supermarket and mart selling sardines and fishes from Morocco because 92% of these fishes are stolen from western Sahara Coast, they added.
The group accused President Buhari of supporting the self declaration of independence by the Western Sahara state in 1984 when he was the Head IG State. This was after the Saharawi had thrown off the colonial yoke of Spain.
The group insisted that while it wanted Nigeria to produce its own fertilizers, it will not support the use if stolen resources.
